Tushar Mathur In an age where we are all very reliant on electronic devices, it can be very difficult to save on our energy costs. You can’t do nothing about your electricity bill, however – utility bills are always increasing and without taking some steps, these costs can easily get out of control.
There’s probably only a limited amount you can do to conserve the electricity usage in your home – but there is something you can do to dramatically reduce your energy bills. Using alternative energy to replace part or all of the energy you currently buy from your utility company can save you a lot of money. Solar energy works well, but is very expensive to start up due to the cost of solar panels. However, you can buy the equipment you need to get your home using wind power at a low cost and you can even build your own wind turbines!
Like other DIY projects, building a DIY wind turbine is quite simple and if you have the necessary materials, you can just create a working one in just a few seconds. As long as you live in a rural area or a non-urban spot, you should have great savings with the wind turbine. You can even go as far as making multiple wind turbines to generate even more renewable power.
A wind turbine has three parts. There are rotors, a tower or other support to hold the rotors and of course a battery or batteries to store the electrical energy generated by your turbine. Depending on your particular setup, you may also need a transformer – if you plan to feed the energy your turbine generates directly into your home, this is an important piece of equipment.
You can find these parts easily at local scrap yards or online. These parts are generally very inexpensive and you shouldn’t have any trouble finding these; eBay is an excellent source for parts.
If you’ve ever built any kind of machinery before, building a wind turbine will be nothing new to you. It’s a pretty simple project and even if machinery isn’t really your cup of tea, keep in mind that this project is going to save you quite a bit of money over time. It can be fun to make your own wind turbine and the rewards of finishing this project are well worth the small amount of effort involved.
All you need to do really is to conduct searches online for information that shares steps and plans on building a wind turbine. Many of the guides require a small fee to acquire so make sure you do a background check on any site that sells wind turbine guides. If it is legitimate, the small fee is more than worth it since you can use it to build additional wind turbines in the future.
Some of the free sources are also excellent – there are even videos which illustrate the process of building a working wind turbine. Once you’ve read a few different guides, you should be well prepared to build your own custom wind turbines. You can use them for yourself or even sell these turbines to others who are interested in saving on their energy bills.
Wind power is a renewable, non-polluting energy source. A well built turbine can save you a lot of money; and several turbines may be able to supply all of the power your home needs.
