Industrial Pollution is the pollution that is caused by the harmful emissions released into the environment –may be in to ground water, rivers, air etc. Industries may lead to various kinds of pollution like noise pollution, land pollution, water pollution, air pollution.
Serious ecological imbalances are the consequences of industrialisation. Deforesation, oil spills, destruction of aquatic life, floods etc can also be attributed to high levels of industrialisation. Even the most serious kinds of health hazards to human and animal lives are caused due to harmful emissions of factories. Chernobyl and Bhopal gas tragedy are some examples of the disasters caused by the industries, which has led to irreparable damages.
Thus controlling the pollution, which is caused by the industries is the need of the hour, lest it may devour our planet .The governments of all the countries around the world –developed and developing must work hand in hand to fight with the pollution.
Governments must make it mandatory for the industries to take the following measures:
- Manage the waste disposal and recycle the waste to the maximum. Goods like refrigerators, television sets, computers etc must be carefully disposed.
- State must encourage people to recycle and reuse the domestic goods.
- The government must carry out proper planning for land allotment for setting up of industries. They should be located such that they are away from the water bodies and human settlement areas.
- Strict emission norms must be in place.
- Increased fuel efficiency and adoption of bio fuels must be made compulsory by law.
- Any unethical practice by the industry, which threatens the environment, should be made punishable by law.
- The wastewater must be treated and reused. This way it can be conserved.
- Energy efficient equipment and technology must be used.
- Regular inspection of the water content in the nearby areas like rivers, lakes and drains must be done. The level of emissions in to the air must be also checked at regular intervals so that if there are any alarming levels, appropriate action may be taken in time.
