The first thing to do is to cut down on water consumption. These simple techniques can save little amount of water but if everybody makes it a practice regularly, it can definitely make a big difference.
Here are some ways to make this happen:
Kitchen:
• Run your dishwasher only with a full load.
• Use your garbage disposal cautiously
• Instead of rinsing your dishes, scrape them before washing.
• Reuse water after washing dishes
Bathroom:
• While brushing your teeth or shaving, turn off the faucet when not in use and turn it on again when needed
• Repair leaky faucet
• Install low-flow showerheads
• Don’t waste water while taking showers; install low-flow showerheads.
• Use a toilet tank displacement device to reduce the amount of water in the toilet tank.
• Don’t throw dead bugs or tissues into the toilet bowl.
Laundry:
• Run your washing machine only with a full load and set the lowest possible water level setting on it.
• use cold water instead of warm water as often as possible
Outdoors:
• To avoid evaporation always water your lawns early morning or late night
• Always avoid watering your garden and lawns in windy weather
• Install drip irrigation systems for in your lawns which have bedded plants, trees, or shrubs
• Use a broom instead of a hose to clean walks and driveways
