Low VOC Paint

Paints which use water instead of petroleum-based solvents are called Low VOC Paints. The levels of harmful emissions are lower in water solvents as compared to petroleum solvents. These paints contain volatile organic compounds in low levels, but emit smog which pollutes the air, until they dry.
When we enter a newly painted room, we can feel burning sensation in our eyes. We feel that air inside the room is more polluted than outside. The main reason for this sensation is the paints and finishes used in the room. They also lead to many respiratory problems.
Paints used today contain a very high level of VOCs as they dry faster. But they land up polluting the environment by the smog it emits. They release these toxics even after years of application.
This is the reason why the new environment regulations demands have led to the development of low LOC paints. They preserve the air quality and also reduce the sensation and irritation to the eyes. Consumers today do not want to compromise on their health and the environment. Low VOC paints are more durable, better performance and releases minimum pollutants.
Low volatile organic compounds (VOC) paints are comparatively more cost efficient as they are more durable to the consumers. As responsible citizen, one should always go in for the use of Low VOC Paints.
Using these paints are a few of tips for green living. They are more eco-friendly than the primitive paints which were used.

The main benefits of low VOC paints are:
• Low ozone pollution
• Less emission of chemicals which forms smog
• Cost competitive
• Better performance as compared to conventional paints
• Reduced irritation to eyes and respiratory
• Good outdoor and indoor quality air
• Makes you feel as a responsible citizen
