Radiant floor heating is easiest way of placing warmth into your home. Radiant floors can heat the home without wasting energy. It is a way to go green with such innovations.
Radiant floor heating is installed by fixing specialized made cables or tubes in the floor to provide heat so that you can pleasurably walk on. The mat floor and cable type are the two safe methods of radiant floor heating that can be installed by anybody yourself or through a professional.
Radiant floor heating cost varies with the type of heating system used. Cost of installing a tube or cable method is more but it covers more area, however, the mat method is easier to build. The mat method heated floors usually costs less.
The radiant floor heating system once installed can work up to 30 years. These needs only little maintenance related to electrical issues or tubing which also can be repaired quickly.
Cost of the radiant floor heating is based on the type of heating system installed. There are two methods, one is electric radiant in which wires are laid under the floor and other one is hydronic radiant floor heating in which tubes are laid under the floor for circulating the hot water. The hydronic radiant heated floor cost is more because in these more work related to pipes is involved.
Other reasons for which electric radiant flooring is a superior choice:
• Electric heating mats are put right under the flooring can heat in 30 to 60 minutes, however, hydronic systems takes 4 to 7 hours to heat up as these are placed deeper into the slab.
• They can be controlled by a timer and a thermostat and also you can set the on/off buttons to heat only when and where heat is required.
• They are easier to maintain and repair as it is difficult to find a leak and also difficult to repair the hydronic system.
With its high energy efficiency and pure draft-free heat, the radiant floor heating offers several environmental benefits. Further, these are adjustable to various other energy-efficient sources of heat, such as solar and geothermal and can contribute to green building concepts.
